Get to know our Physicians and Staff

 

Dr. Naffah
Dr. Naffah was born in Beirut, Lebanon in March, 1956. He moved to New York City in 1976 and completed his undergraduate work in 1978 at Columbia University. He earned his M.D. in 1982 from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, and after that, a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.

 

While a fellow in gastroenterology, Dr. Naffah earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins School of Engineering. He has used his computer science skills in various medical applications, ranging from artificial intelligence to database design and development.

 

In 1988, Dr. Naffah was appointed to the staff of the Cleveland Clinic, where he practiced gastroenterology for four years. In 1992 he moved to Warren.

 

Dr. Naffah has published various articles and book chapters and has lectured in the United States, Europe, and South America. He is a member of various medical societies, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His name was selected to appear in The Best Doctors in America.

 

Besides English, Dr. Naffah speaks fluent French, Arabic, and Spanish. He enjoys music and plays the piano. 

He has been a member of the Ohio Arts Council since 2015. He is president Emeritus of the Medici Museum, in Warren, Ohio.

Dr. Awaida
 
Dr. Awaida was born in Lebanon, in November 1971. Upon graduating from medical school, at the Lebanese University, Dr. Awaida received the faculty award of excellence. He went through a three-year internal medicine residency at the Staten Island University Hospital in New York, following which he was appointed chief resident for an additional year. In both capacities, he received the achievement award in medical research and scholarly activity. Then he completed a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology at the State University Hospital Health Science Center at Brooklyn in New York. In 2005, he went to Ashland, KY where he practiced gastroenterology for two years.  He came to Warren and joined Dr. Naffah in January 2008.  Dr. Awaida is also trained in advance endoscopy.  In 2008-2009, he completed a hands-on endoscopy ultrasound tutorial at the University of Montreal (CHUM) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
 
Dr. Awaida is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He belongs to various medical societies, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastrenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endsocopy.  In 2014 he became a Fellow in the American Gastroenterolgical Association.
 
Besides English, Dr. Awaida speaks fluent French and Arabic. He enjoys basketball, boating, diving and spending time with his family.
